In a significant step towards strengthening the framework of Islamic social and economic cooperation, the Deputy Secretatry General WZWF West Africa who tripled as the Chairman AZAWON & SOZEA and also the National President of DCCN Nigeria Malam Muhammad Lawal Maidoki (Sadaukin Sakkwato), paid a courtesy visit to the National Headquarters of the Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (ANGKASA).
The Sadaukin Sakkwato, was received by the President of ANGKASA, Datuk Seri Dr. Abdul Fattah Abdullah. ANGKASA(Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad) is the apex organization for cooperatives in Malaysia. It is dedicated to leading, coordinating, and providing development services to the Malaysian cooperative movement to ensure its growth, sustainability, and competitiveness
The meeting, marked by a spirit of mutual respect and shared vision, centered on exploring robust avenues to deepen the existing relationship within the global Islamic Cooperative Society movement. Both leaders emphasized the critical role of cooperative models grounded in Shariah principles in alleviating poverty, empowering communities, and fostering sustainable economic growth.

In his remarks, the Sadaukin Sakkwato commended ANGKASA for its pioneering role and remarkable success in championing the cooperative movement in Malaysia in the World in General.
We are here to learn, collaborate, and build a bridge that will facilitate the exchange of knowledge, technical expertise, and best practices for the benefit of our people.”
In response, Datuk Seri Dr. Abdul Fattah Abdullah expressed ANGKASA’s full commitment to partner with AZAWON and SOZEA in different aspects of Islamic Cooperative Society ranging from school Cooperative, mosque Coperative, Agricultural cooperative, Tourism cooperative and the rest.
“We are deeply honored by the visit of the Sadaukin Sakkwato, which underscores a shared commitment to the values of ‘ta’awun’ (cooperation) in Islam,” said Datuk Seri Dr. Abdul Fattah. “ANGKASA is eager to share its experiences and work hand-in-hand with our brothers and sisters in Nigeria to strengthen their cooperative ecosystem. This collaboration is not just about economics; it is about building resilient communities and preserving our social fabric.”
Key outcomes from the meeting include a preliminary agreement to:
- Facilitate Knowledge Exchange: Organizing training programs and workshops for Nigerian cooperative leaders, facilitated by ANGKASA’s experts.
- Explore Joint Ventures: Investigating opportunities for joint cooperative ventures in areas such as Halal agro-business, microfinance, and consumer goods.
- Strengthen Institutional Ties: Establishing a formal framework for continuous dialogue and cooperation between ANGKASA and relevant institutions in Sokoto.
This landmark meeting is expected to pave the way for a new chapter in mutual cooperation, leveraging the power of Islamic economics to create tangible, positive impacts on the lives of ordinary people.
